There was something in v3.0.650 causing the servers to no longer allow write access to the shares after some random point in time. We use data about you for a number of purposes explained in the links below. Thinking this might be hardware related, I re-enabled the 100 Mbps connection and hooked that up to the Ethernet switch instead - but the problem remained. So this says to me that the problem is related solely to this one machine. i've tried all the patches (1,4,5,7,8) but the errors keep coming.
Thanks for the reply Bobbye. It would have been nice to discover the actual cause of the 6004 errors, but they seem to have been innocuous after all anyway.
