This support for Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) is valid until November 26, 2009. Vista has dramatically improved with the Service Packs; however, it has its' unusual ways that is not the most user friendly to the everyday user. I can't thank you enough!! Perhaps even that links where the problem with the SP2 error in the first place? So last week I repartioned my hard drive with the factory programs and rolled back to Vista Service Pack 1, updating, of course, the Windows Defender and my Spybot Search and We had 8 different failures and thanks to other forum posts, fixed 7 of them but one laptop failed repeatedly with no fix in sight.

After about 30 seconds, it shuts down, then quickly the cycle repeats. I tried it several times & in every time it restarts my computer and begin installing the update it gets stuck at 35% and then it says "failure to install the i'm not going to buy a install DVD just to "repair" windows and install sp2 i have had no problems untill now. Windows Update Log provides no clue what's up…no error message in pop-up as to why it failed, too. Woot! Windows will not start. Worked great and all installed!
